| An ordinary Jewish custom
leads to an event of great significance. Among the crowds of people and
important religious leaders at the Temple, only Simeon and Anna
recognize that the infant Jesus is the Messiah. God has chosen these two
humble people because they are truly devout, and so blessed with this
special privilege. |
| United by the Spirit, let
us now welcome Christ the Lord: |
| Christ
is the light of all nations and the glory of his people. |
| Now,
Lord, you have kept your word: let your servant go in peace. |
| With my
own eyes I have seen the salvation which you have prepared in the sight
of every people. |
| A light
to reveal you to the nations and the glory of your people. |
| May the
same light, Lord, lead my path to you. |
| Christ
is the light of all nations and the glory of his people. |
